The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a third-party action-adventure video game set in an open world in Manhattan. Players take on the role of Spider-Man and complete missions (linear scenarios with set goals) to progress through the story. The missions are structured linearly, but the player can explore the game map between missions and participate in various side activities. Players can access all of Spider-MSpider-Man’sman abilities, including spider web movement and wall-crawling.
Players can improve web shooters and unlock new skills, such as ionic nets that destroy metal objects, including armour on certain enemies, or vibratory shocks that incapacitate enemies for a few seconds. In addition to armoured enemies, other enemy types have been introduced, such as Brutes, which can only be defeated after being weakened by vibration blasts, and Speeders and Glider riders, which can only be attacked after being lured towards Spider-Man. These enemies can be defeated like regular enemies in the stealth segment except Brutesents.
