XCOM 2 Download is a 2016 turn-based tactics video game developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games. It is the sequel to the series’ 2012 relaunch, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, and takes place 20 years after its events. XCOM, a military group attempting to combat an alien invasion, has lost the battle and is now a resistance army opposing Earth’s takeover and the established totalitarian state and military dictatorships. The game is separated into two sections: turn-based combat, in which players lead a squad of warriors to battle opponents, and strategy, in which players manage and oversee the operations of the Avenger, an alien spacecraft that serves as a base.

Following player input, Firaxis implemented generative map creation and mod compatibility to Enemy Unknown. The creators designed the game after the disappointing conclusion of the 2012 reboot, which enabled them to modify the gameplay, add more new features, and revamp several monsters.
