Fallout 4 is an Action RPG that was developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game takes place on a post-apocalyptic landscape that includes the city of Boston as well as the surrounding territory called the “Commonwealth.” The game uses a number of local landmarks, including Bunker Hill and Fort Independence near Concord. It also includes the Sanctuary Hills Bridge.
The main plot of the game takes place in 2287. This is ten years following the events in Fallout 3 as well as 210 years following the “Great War,” which caused devastating nuclear destruction to the United States. The player controls a man known as “Lone Survivor,” who is waking up from a long-term freezing stasis inside Vault 111. The lone surviving character travels to the Commonwealth after witnessing the death of his wife and the kidnapping of his son.
Players travel through a decaying world, completing objectives, helping factions and earning experience points that can be used to enhance and expand the character’s abilities. New additions to the series include the ability to create and administer towns as well as an advanced crafting system that allows materials collected from the environment to be used to make narcotics and bombs, improve weapons and armor and build, outfit, and upgrade settlements. Fallout 4 also marks the first time in the franchise that a protagonist is fully voiced.
If a player discovers a spot, he can quickly navigate there. Weapons can also be modified. The collection includes over 50 pistols, which are available with different barrel types and laser focusing. Over 700 mods are available.
