The video series Watchmen: The End is Nigh was a prequel to the movie adaptation of DC Comics‘s limited series Watchmen. Crime and terrorism have become commonplace, as has the distinction between good and evil. Sewers, rooftops, and alleyways are infested with criminals and violent gangs. Underboss is now in control of the city after a dramatic escape from prison. You are one of the few masked vigilantes who have heeded the call to protect the city.
In single-player mode or cooperative multiplayer, the player can choose between playing as Rorschach and Nite Owl. In the game’s first episode, which is divided into six chapters, only Rorschach or Nite Owl are playable. The bookends of each chapter are animated panels similar to the Watchmen comics available via iTunes.
While the gameplay mixes beat-ups and puzzles, the characters have unique attributes and skills. Nite Owl, who is slower, has excellent martial arts skills and uses technology like the “screecher gun” and grapple guns, is faster and is armed with homemade weapons such as crowbars or baseball bats. Collaboration is essential to solving riddles or fighting enemies.
